What Mason Mount and Max Verstappen did in Monaco amid Todd Boehly’s successful Chelsea takeover


Mason Mount and Max Verstappen have been pictured together ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix. The two respective world champions enjoyed a chat trackside ahead of what is set to be a definitive bout in the race for the 2022 Formula One World Championship title.

While Monaco is just the seventh race in the calendar this campaign, Verstappen tops the table with 110 points with four wins under his belt. Charles Leclerc, who has two wins to his name, follows close behind in second on 104 points, while Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez trails in third on 85 points.

Verstappen will be looking to extend his lead at the top, having enjoyed three successive race wins. However, despite looking amicable with Mount ahead of the clash on May 29, the Dutchman will be hoping he can retain his world title unlike the Chelsea midfielder.

This hasn’t been the first time that the Red Bull driver has indulged himself in Chelsea’s current affairs. In April, Verstappen questioned Sir Lewis Hamilton’s involvement in Sir Martin Broughton’s Chelsea takeover bid.

Hamilton’s attempted involvement with the Blues came as a surprise to many due to the Mercedes driver’s support for Arsenal from a young age. His rival, Verstappen, claimed that as a PSV fan he wouldn’t dream of buying Ajax.
