After weeks of complications, it appears that Hertha Berlin have finally agreed to let highly rated goalkeeper Marcel Lotka join Borussia Dortmund.

Marcel Lotka’s move to Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer from Hertha Berlin was initially made official in March. But what appeared to be a done deal was then thrown into doubt after the Berliners pulled an option to extend the goalkeeper’s expiring contract by one year before the deadline on April 30.

This led to a very complicated situation, and it was thought that the matter may result in a legal dispute. But now it appears that a solution has been found, and Lotka will join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer. According to BILD, the 21 year old’s contract with BVB will contain a sell-on clause which would give Hertha a share of a potential future transfer fee.

Marcel Lotka began the season as Hertha BSC’s fifth-choice goalkeeper and played in the fourth division of German football during the first half of the season. But he got his opportunity earlier this year, and has since established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young goalkeepers.
