Departing Man Utd attacker Edinson Cavani has reserved praise for two of his teammates ahead of his Old Trafford exit.
Cavani scored 17 goals for the Red Devils during his debut season in 2020/21. He barely featured in 2021/22 though as he was hampered by injuries.
Man Utd struggled without the Uraguay international. They ended up finishing sixth in the Premier League.
They also exited each cup competition early to go another season without any silverware.
Cristiano Ronaldo and David De Gea have comfortably been their best performers of the season. Had they not performed so well, United would have likely finished outside of the European places.
Ronaldo netted 18 league goals, while De Gea only made one error leading to a goal in the Premier League (according to the league’s official website).
Cavani is leaving Man Utd this summer when his contract expires. He has taken time to praise Ronaldo and De Gea:
“I think that overall, this season, the team has been a little inconsistent throughout the entire campaign,” Cavani told United’s official website.
“I don’t think that we ever managed to find that… how would you put it… that consistency during the season, whether it be in the group as a whole, or also on an individual basis.
“Sometimes it was down to injuries, other times it was down to the dips in form that we can go through as players. But I think it was an inconsistent season for us, very inconsistent, in every sense of the word I believe.
