Man City chief confirms they have had many offers for striker but hes not going to leave

Man City chief executive Ferran Soriano has revealed that they have “had many offers” for their new striker Julian Alvarez ahead of this summer.

The 22-year-old progressed through the ranks at River Plate. He netted 24 goals in 46 games during the 2021 season.

Towards the end of the January transfer window earlier this year, Man City signed him on a permanent deal for around £14m.

The Argentina international has been on loan at River Plate but he is due to return to Man City in July.

With City signing Erling Haaland, Alvarez will likely play a supporting role next season.

Though he is primed to be their second choice striker with Gabriel Jesus being linked with an exit.

Soriano has confirmed that Alvarez will not be joining a rival club on loan next season:

“We’ve had many offers from clubs to loan Julian Alvarez, but he is not going to leave,” Soriano said (quotes via Manchester Evening News).

“He will do pre-season with us and I think he will stay.”

Soriano was also quick to deny claims that Barcelona are one of those wanting to sign Alvarez: “Barcelona? No, Barca were not interested.”

Elsewhere, Jack Grealish has been slammed by Simon Jordan for his seemingly random criticism of Miguel Almiron during City’s Premier League title celebrations.
