Liverpool open talks with Jurgen Klopp on contract extension

Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with manager Jurgen Klopp over extending his contract at the club. According to Sky Sports, the German, who joined the Merseyside club in 2015 and helped transform their fortunes, was rumored potentially leave the six-time European champions when he runs out of his current deal in summer 2024.

However, Liverpool owners FSG are ready to make a huge decision to keep hold of the German. It is reported that president Mike Gordon, who witnessed Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Villarreal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinals  on Wednesday, is set to hold talks with the manager.

Klopp’s close friend and representative Marc Kosicke was heavily involved in the reported claims that Liverpool are ready to pounce on the recent glimmers of hope that Klopp is in a good mood to discuss extending his stay at the club for a little longer and the club is looking to tie him down until at least 2026.

Liverpool’s last campaign was forgettable, despite finishing third in the Premier League and having a decent quarterfinal run in the Champions League, it speaks volumes about the standards of The Reds. Klopp and his team has been re-ignited this season as Liverpool now remain the only English side who are still in the hunt for an unprecedented quadruple.
