Liverpool ‘consider’ £105m Juventus offer after Takumi Minamino £17m ‘bid’

Liverpool are considering joining the race to sign Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, according to reports in Italy.

The 22-year-old, who has made 117 appearances for the Italian side since his €75m move from Ajax in 2019, is facing an uncertain future with rumours circulating that he is seeking a move away from the club. Juventus have offered the defender a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in 2024. However, this doesn’t include a pay rise, as the Italian club continue to come to terms with the financial implications of Covid-19.

Barcelona are long-term admirers of De Ligt but their financial issues and the Dutchman’s £105.7m release clause are major sticking points. Calciomercato is reporting that both Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with the defender and are considering a move. Thomas Tuchel’s side will be looking to replace departing defenders Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp is supposedly weighing up a move with Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk both over 30. However, it is unclear whether Liverpool would be willing to dedicate such a large chunk of their transfer budget to a position where they are already well stocked with Ibrahima Konate just 22 and having excelled this year. Similarly, Joe Gomez is only 24, and despite being blighted by injuries in recent years, has shown his quality since he joined Liverpool in 2015.

Mohamed Salah receives unwanted Liverpool message as Alisson Becker left fuming

Liverpool did all they could in their attempt to claim the Premier League title by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson all netted as the Reds came from behind to win 3-1 and end the top-flight season unbeaten at home. The result means Jurgen Klopp’s side ended the campaign a point behind Manchester City to dash hopes of an unprecedented quadruple.

But there was plenty that went unnoticed or under the radar during the 90 minutes at Anfield.
