According to reports, Liverpool are “certainly interested’ in signing Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, but there will be an “open race” to sign him.
The 18-year-old has been with Dortmund since 2020. They beat Man Utd to the singing of the Birmingham City academy product.
The England international has already played 90 times for the German outfit. This includes several impressive showings in the Champions League.
With Dortmund selling Erling Haaland to Man City, it has never been on the cards for Bellingham to also leave this summer.
Though the midfielder is expected to leave the club in 2023. His current contract expires in 2025.
Liverpool are known to be admirers of Bellingham and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed this:
“There is no chance for Jude Bellingham to leave Borussia Dortmund before summer 2023,” Romano told CaughtOffside.
“Liverpool are certainly interested for next summer – his talent and personality make him look like the perfect fit for a Jurgen Klopp team – but there is absolutely no definite deal because so many clubs want Jude and it will be an open race.
“From sources close to the family, a potential transfer for his younger brother Jobe Bellingham, currently at Jude’s old club Birmingham City, will not affect Jude’s next destination.”
