Leeds United supporters could be in for a ‘really exciting’ summer as Jesse Marsch looks to put his own stamp on the Elland Road squad he inherited, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Marsch, who was appointed as the Whites’ head coach following Marcelo Bielsa’s dismissal in February, kept the Yorkshire giants in the Premier League on the final day of the season.

Who have Leeds been linked with?

It appears Marsch is closing in on the first signing of his tenure as Brenden Aaronson is set to join in a deal worth in the region of £22.3million.

The Red Bull Salzburg creative midfielder has been a long-term target for Leeds, who failed with bids of £15million and £20million during the January transfer window.

Marsch is also keen to bolster his options in the full-back areas and, according to The Athletic, the Whites will battle it out with Liverpool to sign 18-year-old Aberdeen talent Calvin Ramsay.

The report suggests Leeds could win the race for the three-cap Scotland under-21 international’s services due to better first-team prospects at Elland Road.

Meanwhile, director of football Victor Orta stepped up the interest in RB Leipzig central defender Josko Gvardiol during the final weeks of the campaign.

What has Dean Jones said about the situation?

Jones feels Marsch will be pleading with Orta and Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani to allow him to add fresh faces to the squad.

The transfer insider feels the American is desperate to make sure the Whites do not find themselves at risk of relegation to the Championship next season.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I think it now gets really exciting for Leeds. They can look for additions all over the squad and they will look to make sure that they’re not in this position again in a year’s time.

“Jesse Marsch will be saying ‘please, please now just see what I’ve given, the character I’ve put in this team is there and it’s going to be different from what you saw under Bielsa but it could be every bit as special’.”
