Japan dressing room: Samurai Blue clean up brilliantly after beating Germany at World Cup

Japan are being praised for leaving their dressing room in an absolutely immaculate state after beating Germany in their World Cup Group E clash.

Japan produced one of the shocks of the tournament by coming from behind to beat Hansi Flick’s side.

Germany took the lead in the first half when Ilkay Gundogan rolled home a penalty.

However, late goals from Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano sealed an incredible victory for the Samurai Blue.

Being paired in the same group as Spain and Germany made it seem as though it was an impossible task for Japan to qualify for the knockout stages.

But victory in their next match against Costa Rica – who lost 7-0 to Spain on Wednesday – would all but seal qualification.

But Japan weren’t settled with just beating Germany on the pitch.

Following their brilliant win, images are going viral of the state they left their dressing room in.

And the word ‘immaculate’ is no understatement.

Japan left their dressing room so tidy – and even made some amazing-looking origami.

Class. Absolutely class.

Their fans in the Khalifa International Stadium followed suit and were seen cleaning up the stadium in Qatar after their victory.


Japan really are the winners on and off the pitch at this World Cup so far.

After the match, Japan’s players reacted to their historic win

Winning goalscorer, Asane, said: “It is a dream come true. We knew we could do it, we had a dream like this.

“We watched the Saudi game and thought we can do it – then we just did it today.”

Meanwhile, captain and former Southampton defender Maya Yoshida said: “Big win, massive win. But it is still tough to go through. It is absolutely amazing though, we have to be humble and very careful.

“We present Asia and many supporters from Asia supporting us today. This is the beauty of football.”
