Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk continues to dominate transfer headlines ahead of his potential move to Arsenal this month.
The Gunners have consistently been linked with Mudryk over the last few months and football.london understands that a deal is now closer than ever with talks now focusing on the structuring of the deal. Potential add-ons could be decisive, but it is thought that negotiations are heading in the right direction.
Now, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that direct talks between Arsenal and Shakhtar will continue on Saturday whilst also reporting that the north Londoners’ latest offer is €70million (£62 million) plus €25million (£22million) worth of potential add-ons. That would make the youngster the club’s record signing, beating out the £72 million they paid Lille for Nicolas Pepe back in the summer of 2019.
If the two clubs can agree on a fee, personal terms will be no issue given the player himself has consistently hailed Arsenal and their manager Mikel Arteta over the last few months. Speaking during an interview on YouTube, the 22-year-old said: “From a purely hypothetical perspective, if there was the option of being a bench player for Real Madrid or a starter for Arsenal, I’d probably choose Arsenal.
“But it’s a tough question and involves a lot of factors in my answer. I would first want to know from the head coach that even if I wasn’t a guaranteed starter, that I’d receive a chance.
“Essentially I need to hear directly from the manager what he envisages my role in his side to be.”
