‘Every kid’s dream’ – Trevoh Chalobah’s first words after signing Chelsea contract extension

Trevoh Chalobah has described lengthening his time with Chelsea as a “dream” after signing a contract extension with the Blues.

The 23-year-old last agreed a new contract in November 2021 but the club have shown their faith in him by extending that until 2028. The Blues hold an option to further extend that until 2029.

Only in the summer were clubs sounding the defender out over a loan move with game time proving difficult and Chelsea adding defenders to their ranks. But following an injury to Wesley Fofana, Chalobah has proved crucial for Graham Potter. The former Lorient loanee played all but 21 minutes against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup following Fofana’s injury.

Chalobah has been with Chelsea since the age of nine and has described the experience of playing for the Blues as ‘an honour’.

After extending his deal, he said: “I’m over the moon to sign this contract. It’s been an honour every time I put the shirt on. I want to give my all and do anything for this club. As everyone knows I’ve been here from a young age and to continue here is every kid’s dream. Whenever I get the chance, I’ll give my all for the club and look for the future ahead.

“I want to say thanks to God for this, without Him none of this would be possible. And just always believing. Thanks to my family as well and the club for trusting in me. I’ll now continue to give my all.”
