Donny van de Beek has sent a farewell message to Everton supporters following the conclusion of his loan deal.

The Dutch international midfielder arrived at Goodison Park on the final day of the mid-season transfer window, having struggled for regular minutes at his parent club Manchester United.

Van de Beek impressed in early outings against Leeds United and Manchester City, offering hope that he would be a smart addition for manager Frank Lampard.

However, his time in L4 was largely ruined by injury issues. At West Ham United, he was scheduled to start but was injured in the warm-up.

Van de Beek did get to sign off with a goal at least, although it was the consolation in a 5-1 loss to Arsenal on the final day of the Premier League season. A day on from that defeat, he posted a message to Evertonians on social media.

“Not the way we wanted to finish the season but we already reached our goal a few days ago,” said the former Ajax man, in reference to Everton’s 3-2 win over Crystal Palace that secured Premier League safety.

“I want to thank all the players, staff and especially the fans who were there in the good and tough times. Up the Toffees.”

Van de Beek now faces an intriguing spell in his career, as he looks poised to return to United and work under their new manager Erik ten Hag.
