Barcelona’s quest to tie Ousmane Dembele has taken a negative trend in recent weeks, with the club unsure of their chances to convince the player to remain at Camp Nou.
Due to the financial crisis, Barça are not in a position to afford the hefty wage demands and agent commissions, which has opened the door for the player to move elsewhere.
Barcelona have not given up just yet and tried their best to come up with an offer for the Frenchman, who is regarded highly by Xavi.
However, as per Fabrizio Romano, the Catalans are not exactly being helped out by Dembele, as his entourage is yet to provide any official response to the club’s final offer.
There was a meeting between Moussa Sissoko, Dembele’s agent, and the two Barcelona management figures Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff, on Monday.
Dembele, though, has not offered any field of communication since. Joan Laporta has been quick to criticise him as well, publicly pointing him out as the main obstacle in the club’s bid to renew the contract of Dembele.
Reports even suggest Sissoko was coming on the back of a trip to Paris on the weekend. He had held talks with PSG’s Nasser Al-Khelaifi, exploring the possibility of a Bosman move to Parc des Princes after the end of his contract at Camp Nou.
PSG have identified Dembele as an ideal replacement for Angel Di Maria, who, in turn, is set to leave the club in the summer.
