Moukoko set to pen contract

Chelsea look set to miss out on the signing of Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko. The 18-year-old has been heavily linked with an exit from the Bundesliga outfit as he enters the final six-months of his deal.

According to the Evening Standard, Newcastle United made a ‘substantial verbal approach’ for the striker, leapfrogging the Blues in their pursuit. The report states that Moukoko is thought to have discussed a deal worth over £150,000 a week to join Eddie Howe’s side on a free transfer once his deal at the Signal Iduna Park expires in the summer.

However, the German side look to be in luck. According to Sky Sports Germany, a compromise has now been made between the two parties and Moukoko now looks poised to commit his future to Dortmund. His U-turn decision to stay put in the Bundesliga comes just days after Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke commented on the lack of ‘gratitude’ in football.

Nunez a doubt for Chelsea clash

Liverpool have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of their clash with Chelsea next week, with Darwin Nunez a doubt. The 23-year-old striker has endured a turbulent start to life in the Premier League following his arrival from Benfica in the summer.

The Reds will be keen to have Nunez available for the blockbuster clash with Chelsea, with both clubs desperate for three points in the race for top-four. In an official statement from Liverpool, the striker has been absent from training due to a ‘minor issue’.

It’s said that Nunez will be regularly checked ahead of their trip to the south coast to lock horns with Brighton on Saturday, January 14. Liverpool face Wolves in a FA Cup third round replay on January 17 before welcoming Chelsea to Merseyside on January 21.

Thiago Silva’s wife launches implicit attack

Thiago Silva’s wife, Belle Silva, has launched an implicit attack on the Chelsea squad following the 1-0 defeat to Fulham. Despite the Blues’ poor performances of late, the veteran defender has continued to show his class at the heart of Graham Potter’s backline.

Despite the Brazil international’s best efforts, the Blues have struggled to keep the ball out of their own net, with self-inflicted mistakes often at the root of the problem. And, after two individual mistakes by Chelsea players handed Fulham three points on a silver platter at Craven Cottahe, Belle Silva has seemingly hit out at her husband’s teammates.

Taking to Twitter to vent her frustrations, Belle suggested that Potter needs a Thiago Silva in every position in order for the Blues to transform their form. With a blue heart and crying face emoji, she tweeted: “If there was a @tsilva3 in attack and one in midfield, with what we already have in defense…”
