Chelsea and Barcelona battle for Kalidou Koulibaly
Thomas Tuchel is in desperate need to strengthen his defence this summer with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta all potentially departing. The Blues have been linked with a number of reinforcements with Jules Kounde and Josko Gvardiol currently the favoured options according to reports.
As per Corriere dello Sport Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is on the radar of the Blues but they face competition from Barcelona if they are to land him. His current valuation is around £34million, according to the report, with one year remaining on his contract.
It is not just in defence where they will need to strengthen. Tuchel is eager to bolster his front line to produce an attacking unit that can compete with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
One player who has been targeted by the Blues is Leeds winger Raphinha but, once again, Barcelona are posing some stiff competition. However, Chelsea can still win the race and could even copy the trick used by Liverpool to sign Luis Diaz in January.
