Day three of the World Cup is upon us after England stormed to a 6-2 win over Iran in their opening game with Raheem Sterling, who scored the Three Lions’ third goal, and Mason Mount heavily involved in the victory. There was plenty of noteworthy action elsewhere as Edouard Mendy faced significant criticism for his role in the Netherland’s 2-0 win over Senegal, while Christian Pulisic grabbed a superb assist as the USA drew with Wales.

From a Chelsea perspective attention, today is now more focused on the many World Cup scouting missions they will be conducting over the tournament, with France kicking off their world championship defence while Mexico’s Edson Alvarez will be hoping for a positive World Cup which could rekindle the interest the Blues held in him over the summer.
