Barcelona have made it a point to keep a close watch on the South American market to capture exciting, young talents from the continent.
This strategy has seen them recently acquire the signing of Argentine forward Lucas Roman while they are also in talks to sign Brazilian right-back Wesley.
Barça director Mateu Alemany met with Deco on Monday to discuss the club’s plans with regard to the talent in the South American footballing scenes.
Now, Mundo Deportivo is reporting that the Blaugrana have a scout, Jose Manuel Barla, present in Colombia to closely follow the South American U-20 Championship.
The former Cadiz footballer and manager has been serving as a scout for Barcelona since 2020 and is currently on an assignment in Colombia to keep an eye out on the exciting youth prospects coming through the scenes at the U-20 Championship.
One player that Barla could be following closely is Athletico Paranaense and Brazil U-20 striker Vitor Roque.
The 17-year-old centre-forward has been on Barcelona’s radar for a while and reports suggested that yesterday’s meeting between Alemany and Deco was related to the club’s efforts to sign the teenager.
